The Amsterdam Canal Parade is quite famous all around the world. Colorful boats steer in the canals of Amsterdam - the event is live transmitted on Dutch local TV. It's always very crowded with around 400.000 people, but it's a great experience. What not everybody knows is that the Pride starts already one week before the Canal Parade. Official opening of the Pride week takes place in Vondelpark. First people are walking on the streets of Amsterdam to manifest that everyone is equal and that everybody is entitled to live life as he wants. People are carrying flags of the countries where homosexuality is a crime to show that in many places in the world are still intolerant. The last stop is the Vondelpark. On the main stage, the Pride week is being officially opened. The atmosphere is really amazing, so many happy people. Everyone is smiling enjoying wonderful weather, drink and music by a chorus, artists and Dj's. Apart from the main stage, there are many other activities awaiting. There is a contest for the best young Drag Queen. All kind of information stands where you can learn more about the LGBTI+ community. If you watched the series "Pose" on Netflix you can feel like you are in the movie. There is a catwalk where people are walking in different categories and being judged by a international jury. Everything run by American Dj's. It's something you just have to see with your own eyes - I was amazed. I tried to take some photos to let you see how wonderful the atmosphere was. I wanted to focus on individual persons, show how proud they are from whom they are. We are all different and we all have the right to be who we want to be. This year the theme was: Remember the past, create the future.
